Following the completion of “A Retro Revival Rooted in Art,” our clients invited us back to continue the transformation of their 1970s Golden, Colorado home with a full main floor refresh centered around art, warmth, and intentional craftsmanship. While the original kitchen remodel established the tone of the home, this phase focused on elevating the surrounding living spaces into a cohesive artistic retreat that honored the home’s retro roots while introducing modern functionality and luxury.

New solid hardwood flooring was installed throughout the remaining main floor, unifying each room with warmth and continuity. The existing dated fireplaces were replaced with a new modern double-sided unit that now acts as a sculptural focal point between the living and dining spaces. In the living room, a dramatic Taj Mahal quartzite surround and mantle bring softness and luxury from the kitchen, while the adjacent dining room preserves the home’s original stone wall, paired with a new mitered Taj Mahal hearth that bridges old and new materials seamlessly.
One of the most personal features of the project is the custom entertainment center, designed and field-built specifically to showcase the homeowners’ extensive globe collection gathered over a lifetime of travel. What was once scattered throughout the home is now thoughtfully displayed within a functional furniture piece that also conceals electronics, games, and storage, allowing the surrounding spaces to remain clean and gallery-like.
By removing an inconsistent patched tile installation added by a previous homeowner, we restored the living room walls into a refined backdrop for the client’s curated art collection. Fireclay blue-glazed brick now spans from the fireplace mantle to the vaulted ceiling, framed by warm wood beams that emphasize the scale of the room.
Updated lighting throughout the home, including custom hand-painted hallway fixtures and custom mid-century inspired front and rear doors, ensures every space feels intentional, artistic, and deeply personal to the homeowners.
