This 1993 bathroom, defined by heavy taupe tones and dated finishes, no longer aligned with the clients’ vision for their spacious primary bath. They imagined a glamorous yet serene retreat, one that felt bright, refined, and intentionally designed to complement their personal style.

Design Vision
The clients were drawn to a clean, elegant palette featuring white shiplap walls, white cabinetry, and Calacatta-style countertops. These selections created a cohesive backdrop that allows personal accents and decor to shine while giving the bathroom a timeless, elevated feel.
Originally, the bathroom backed directly into the bedroom with a partition wall. The design challenge was to create a more defined, purposeful space without sacrificing the openness of the layout.
Layout & Spatial Improvements
To improve flow and functionality:
- The bulky drop-in tub was removed and replaced with a freestanding tub.
- The tub’s orientation was adjusted to open pathways and improve circulation.
- The revised layout maintains an open-concept feel while providing clearer spatial definition.
These changes dramatically enhanced the sense of scale and movement within the room.
Materials & Comfort Features
A balance of bright finishes and warm textures was key to ensuring the space felt inviting rather than stark.
- Natural travertine tile flooring replaced the existing carpet, adding warmth and durability.
- A hardwired towel warmer was installed near the shower and bathtub, delivering everyday luxury and comfort.
- Sleek finishes throughout elevate the space while steering clear of short-lived design trends.
Custom Details & Lighting
Tailored solutions were incorporated to meet the clients’ storage and functionality needs:
- Custom Dura Supreme cabinetry provides ample, thoughtfully designed storage.
- Bell pendants suspended over the vanity cast a soft, welcoming glow and add a layer of visual interest.
The Finished Retreat
This remodel blends contemporary elegance with natural materials to create a luxurious bathroom retreat designed for relaxation and rejuvenation. The result is a space that feels glamorous yet grounded—perfectly suited to the clients’ lifestyle and designed to stand the test of time.
