Project Overview
This Lakewood Colorado modern primary suite remodel was completed as part of a whole-home renovation with a clear goal: create a warm, spa-like retreat that supports the homeowners’ lifestyle today and into the future. The original bathroom felt dated and inefficient, with a bulky drop-in tub, constant faucet leaks, a cramped shower with poor lighting, and limited storage. The homeowners wanted functional luxury, a space that feels restorative while performing beautifully for everyday life.

Layout & Design Transformation
A key structural change involved shifting the vanity wall 1–2 feet into the bathroom to allow for a relocated laundry area within the primary walk-in closet. While this required re-routing all vanity plumbing, it created the opportunity for a highly functional and thoughtfully designed closet system with:
- Hanging storage
- Drawer storage
- Open shelving for easy access
To maintain balance in the bathroom, the freestanding tub was repositioned beneath new frosted Andersen windows that provide privacy while allowing natural light to filter in. Where the original tub deck once sat, the design now includes:
- Two floor-to-ceiling linen cabinets
- Floating shelves for daily essentials and spa accessories
Reimagined Shower Experience
The shower was fully re-envisioned to feel open, bright, and inviting. A ceiling-height glass enclosure with a lowered quartz curb enhances visual openness, while carefully placed features elevate everyday use, including:
- Dual shower heads positioned for comfort
- A long floating quartz bench
- Two recessed niches framed in faux wood porcelain tile
Materials, Comfort & Custom Details
Natural materials and integrated comfort features bring warmth and cohesion throughout the space. Knotty alder cabinetry ties into matching trim and doors, grounding the modern design with rustic character. Additional features include:
- Custom cabinetry with hidden grooming tool pullouts
- Heated tile floors throughout the bathroom and walk-in closet
- Motion-activated toe-kick lighting for nighttime navigation
The Finished Retreat
Thoughtful finishing touches elevate the space into a true retreat, including:
- Dimmable LED backlit mirrors
- Wall-mounted toilet with storage above
- Sculptural translucent resin soaking tub
- Built-in snack station and mini fridge within the walk-in closet
The result is a Colorado Modern primary suite that blends thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and comfort into a space that feels both luxurious and deeply personal.
