Project Overview

This remodel modernizes a 1994 Golden, Colorado home by thoughtfully reworking the main living areas to fully embrace its panoramic city and mountain views. The homeowners wanted a more functional, open layout that elevated daily living while highlighting the home’s most compelling feature, its sweeping vistas.

Our design approach focused on rebalancing the floor plan to create a natural flow between cooking, dining, and gathering spaces, all while taking advantage of the home’s soaring second-story ceiling height and abundant natural light.

Reimagined Kitchen & Dining Layout

The kitchen was expanded into the former dining room, allowing for a more generous workspace and improved circulation. In turn, the original formal sitting area was repurposed into an integrated dining space, strategically positioned to frame the surrounding views and connect seamlessly with the kitchen.

This reconfiguration not only improved functionality but also transformed the main level into a cohesive, view-driven living environment designed for both everyday use and entertaining.

Custom Bar & Functional Zones

To address specific storage and hosting needs, a dedicated bar area was introduced as a distinct yet connected feature within the space. This area includes:

• Monogram drink refrigerators
• Stacked glass-front cabinets for display and storage
• Dedicated space for special-occasion glassware and dishware

Near the back entrance, a small drop zone was added to support daily routines. This practical feature provides a discreet place to tuck away everyday essentials, helping the home stay organized without visual clutter.

Thoughtful Storage Solutions

Throughout the kitchen, custom storage solutions were incorporated to maximize efficiency while maintaining a streamlined look:

• Hidden spice and oil storage to the right of the range
• 15-inch-deep upper cabinets to increase storage capacity
• A concealed pullout next to the refrigerator for cleaning supplies
• A hidden trash pullout with an integrated paper towel holder near the sink

These details ensure everything has a place while keeping the design clean and intentional.

The Finished Space

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can dramatically enhance both form and function. By reworking the layout and layering in custom solutions, the home now offers an elevated living experience where breathtaking views, everyday practicality, and refined design come together seamlessly.
