Tim Smith

Tim brings a design-driven, detail-oriented approach to guiding projects from concept to completion, serving as a clear and thoughtful bridge between clients, designers, and the construction team. With a strong eye for aesthetics and a deep understanding of the building process, Tim is focused on bringing each client’s vision to life accurately, effectively, and with intention.

Tim joined VL Builders after more than six years working across multiple facets of residential design and construction. His background includes lighting design for residential homes, where he developed layouts that balanced function and atmosphere, as well as hands-on experience in home automation and window coverings. He later spent three years specializing in tile, kitchen, and bath design, collaborating closely with homeowners, architects, and contractors. This diverse experience gives Tim a comprehensive understanding of project phases, timelines, and the importance of precision at every stage.

What Tim values most about working at VL Builders is the opportunity to eliminate miscommunication and ensure alignment across the entire project team. He is passionate about being a trusted point of clarity, someone who advocates for both the client and the craftsmanship so that no detail is overlooked and the final result truly reflects the original vision.

Originally from Colorado, Tim earned his degree in Art & Design with a minor in Art History from the University of Northern Colorado. He now lives in Denver with his partner and their Siberian Husky, Kai. Outside of work, Tim enjoys boxing, exploring Denver’s coffee shops and restaurants, and getting into the mountains with his dog.

Tim is guided by values of honesty, authenticity, growth, and craft. His favorite quote, Giorgio Armani’s “Be faithful to your own taste,” reflects his belief that great design, and great work, comes from staying true to vision, integrity, and thoughtful execution.
